Join us for a thoughtful, searching conversation among friends and experts who disagree on America’s immigration policies, but who are working together through Braver Angels to find agreement on updating and improving the nation’s immigration and deportation policies.
They’ll discuss:
What’s at the heart of America’s deportation policy for you?
What policies or remedies do you support to improve America’s deportation system?
This National Forum is part of the Braver Angels Citizens Commission on Immigration, an initiative bringing together grassroots Americans, national leaders, and members of Congress who disagree to find common ground on immigration.

Philosophical Nonviolence and the Democratic Ideal with John Wood Jr.
Hosted by the University of Washington Office of Public Lectures
This engaging lecture explored reviving Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of the beloved community, a society rooted in inclusion, cultural goodwill, and the philosophy of nonviolence. John Wood Jr., National Ambassador for Braver Angels and a prominent voice in depolarization and reconciliation efforts, discussed how these principles extend democracy beyond mere voting, helping bridge today’s deep ideological and cultural divides while strengthening the soul of American civic life.

BRAVER ANGELS NEXT CHAPTER | North Star, Mission & Vision
For years, Braver Angels has been known for dignified debate, skills training, and bridge-building workshops. That doesn’t change. What’s changing is our emphasis on action: we’re asking Americans to practice courageous citizenship—as a personal habit, in local alliances, and for the health of the nation.
NEW Vision: We envision an America where courageous citizenship is the honored norm, renewing civic culture and building trust across political differences.
NEW Mission: We inspire and equip Americans to practice courageous citizenship across political differences through skill building, convening, and collaborative action.
Said simply, we’re inviting people to:
Act, not react.
Act together, locally.
Act for the health of American society.
Mónica Guzmán (Seattle author of I Never Thought of It That Way) joins psychotherapist Paul Norris to discuss how courageous citizenship starts with our shared humanity, and why caring for our emotional lives builds social resilience and civic connection in divided times.

On September 23rd, our elected officials from across the political spectrum came together to sign a letter calling for an end to political violence and the reckless rhetoric that fuels it — and we played a role in it.
This move from our elected officials is bold and countercultural. At a time when so many are championing division, they are taking a stand against it. That is a huge victory for this growing movement!
